The Panton Hill Community Hall situated in AE Cracknell Reserve is managed by a small not for profit incorporated Committee of Management put in place by State Government Body DEECA, the Hall technically doesn't have an owner as it is situated on Crown Land. The Nillumbik Shire Council provides us with some support as it recognizes that even though the Building is not owned by Council it is still a Community Building being a designated Relief Center and used by the local Community and surrounding primary schools for Community events. All Funds raised through the Hire of the Hall are used for the Payment of Electricity, Water, Cleaning and General maintenance which our not for profit Committee is responsible for. A Brief History, the Current Hall on this site is actually the Third Panton Hill Community Hall on this site. The original was a White Weather Board Building which unfortunately Burnt down due to an electrical Fault in the Early Eighties. The Hall was rebuilt this Time a Brick Building, unfortunately this Hall suffered the same fate again due to an Electrical Fault at this stage we don't have exact dates but I believe this second Hall was less than Five years old when it Burnt down. The Nillumbik Shire which was then known as the Eltham Shire was not going to re build the Hall again, the local Community rallied against this decision and fought hard not only at the local Government Level but also the State Government. The Communities persistence paid off with funds made available from both levels of Government and our current Hall was built in the Mid Eighties.
